Romanian is a Romance language spoken mainly in Romania, the Vojvodina region, Serbia, and Moldova (here it is called Moldavian for historical and political reasons).
Romanian has a rather special position in the Romance language family. It is the only Romance language that has not been influenced by the Roman Catholic Church, but by the Greek Catholic Church, and by Turkish and Slavic culture.
